Summer 2009 at The Citadel

Midge Ure @ The Citadel

This summer the Citadel programme cannot fail to impress no matter what your artistic preference. Over the next six months we have some real treats in store, once again offering our growing audiences a mixture of renowned names as well as up and coming talent.

In May alone we have a special acoustic night from Manchester's I Am Kloot, plus The Levellers' Mark, Simon and Jon bring their 'Drunk In Public' tour to St.Helens. In June we have influential Ska band The Beat and the unrivalled singer/songwriter Midge Ure brings the season to a close in August.

For our dedicated Blues fans we have King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, Imelda May and The Nimmo Brothers making a very welcomed return to our Waterloo Street stage. If Folk music is more your thing we have two legendary performances to look forward to with Dave Swarbrick in May and Eric Bogle's last ever tour in July.

We also continue to present the very best in tribute acts, including Limehouse Lizzy and Jean Genie, and support our local music scene by giving bands the opportunity to perform at our regular Overload and Rubberneck events.

Over the weekend of 25th-27th June, Hands On @ The Citadel proudly presents a weekend of Local Dialect. 'Sin Tellens Cum Wom' (St.Helens Comes Home), supported by the Clore Duffield Foundation, sees local dialect adaptations of original and classic texts performed by all three of our community theatre groups, including an extra special outdoor performance in Taylor Park. So please come along and give them your support.

Here at the Citadel we offer performances you cannot afford to miss but can afford to see - don't forget Citadel gigs are for one night only so book tickets early to avoid disappointment.

We look forward to seeing you there.
