Hands On Community & Events
Part of The Citadel's principle aims is to create a strong cultural and artistic base in St.Helens.
Through our Community & Education programme The Citadel continues to:
- Provide opportunities to celebrate art in all its forms and thereby enhance your quality of life.
- Maximise the impact that the arts can have on the economic and physical regeneration of our borough.
- Enhance the importance of the arts in lifelong learning.
- Develop the contribution that the arts make to the health and well-being of local people.
Hands On @ The Citadel has been the very backbone of Youth Arts in St. Helens for over 15 years and it continues to go from strength-to-strength.
The aim of Hands On is to provide access to the arts for all age groups within St. Helens and the surrounding areas; and to ensure that individuals are given the opportunity to make full use of the arts and cultural industries. All activities run by Hands On are inclusive; meaning people of all abilities, gender, religion, disability or sexuality are welcome to attend.
Hands On works as an umbrella that covers all aspects of community arts within The Citadel. This includes drama, music, art, dance, singing and writing.
Hands On also facilitates groups and workshops outside The Citadel; working with St. Helens Council and regional schools to produce festival parades and publicly-displayed artwork.
Hands On @ The Citadel have achieved many things since it began in 1988 and, no doubt, will continue to do so in the years to come.
