Summer 2008 at The Citadel

As the 2008 European Capital of Culture celebrations continue so does The Citadel's 20th birthday year.

Since 1988 The Citadel has developed from an arts centre serving its local communities into an arts venue attracting regional, national and international visitors.

Again this season we aim to deliver a renowned music programme with an array of performances including former Squeeze and The Bible's Chris Difford and Boo Hewerdine, BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Nominees Show Of Hands and The Men They Couldn't Hang. Blues fans can welcome to The Citadel stage Nine Below Zero, New Yorker Popa Chubby and The Hamsters. Plus relive some classic music moments with Focus, The Muffin Men, Stairway To Zeppelin and The Jamm.

If you're looking for an alternative night out why not give John Otway and Wild Willy Barrett, Frank Sidebottom or punk poet John Cooper Clarke a try.

Once again we are also celebrating our community's talent with in-house Hands On @ The Citadel productions of Willy Russell's Breezeblock Park and Alan Parker's classic Bugsy Malone in June. So come along and give them your support.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
