Internet Safety – Staying Safe Online

The Citadel Arts Centre stress that it is important to stay safe whilst surfing the internet. Please see below for some tips on how to stay safe while still having fun on the internet.
You shouldn't be afraid to use the Internet, but you need to know that there are potential dangers. Talking to strangers on the Internet should be treated the same as you would a stranger on the street. Surf safely and you can enjoy the web without worry.

Do's
• Change your email address if you think a stranger knows it
• Tell your parents, carers or teacher if you're worried about something or someone from the internet.
• Make sure your friends surf safely
• Use your common sense. If something seems wrong or makes you uncomfortable, don't reply and tell a parent or carer

Don'ts
• Never tell a stranger your email, telephone number, mobile or address.
• Don't give out details about your school or college.
• Never e-mail a photo of yourself or arrange to meet someone from the web.
• Keep your A/S/L (Age/Sex/Location) secret - don't say where you live
• Don't believe everything you read - sometimes people don't tell the truth.

Information for Parents
Age Admission Policy
Our Age Policy is 10 – 17 years of age, if your child looks older or younger please make sure they bring ID with them to the events or workshops as proof of age.

Unfortunately we cannot admit anyone who is clearly under age as it is against our Policy (tickets are non-refundable).  We will endeavour to contact the parents/guardians of the child to ensure they return home safely.

Alcohol and Drugs Policy
Alcohol and Drugs are not tolerated.
At no time, at any event is alcohol served.  All points of sale for alcohol are adapted so only non alcohol beverages are on display.
We will not tolerate drunken patrons and if any are found to be inebriated, we will wherever possible contact the parents or guardians and ask them to collect the child or children.  We will not turn away any patron without making sure they are safe and that they can get home.

Cigarettes
We do not allow patrons to smoke cigarettes (as of the 1st of October 2007 it is now illegal to sell cigarettes to anyone under the age of 18).  We do not promote the sale of cigarettes in our venue and have no cigarette machine.  If a child enters the venue with cigarettes, they will be confiscated on entry.

Searches
Full searches are required with both female and male security staff.  Clothing and bags will be searched on entry.  Refusal to allow such searches will result in the refusal of entry.

Bullying and Bad behaviour
All patrons are required to treat themselves, others and the venue with respect.  If we discover any patrons intimidating others, fighting or using inappropriate language they will again be escorted out of the building.

Disobediance
Any patron who disobeys venue rules will be removed from the venue and sent home.  If it is a serious offence they will be banned from the venue.

Filming and photographs
Filming takes place at each event and workshop to promote, monitor and evaluate Music Mecca activities. Please see our Privacy Policy for more details.  Permission to share these images and videos is given by completing the Music Mecca Participation form.  These images and videos will only be used to promote Music Mecca on official Citadel Websites.
