What's On

Music Mecca is an exciting project for young people aged 10-18 who live in the St Helens borough.  Music Mecca provides weekly workshops in Djing, Streedance, Singing and Rock band.  If that is not enough, why not come along to our social event, M:ZONE which is an under 18’s night were you can dance the night away hosted by top DJs for only £2.50.

            

Workshops
The workshops are £2.50 per session and take place every week at the Citadel.

Singing
The Singing workshops take place on Saturday afternoons from 12pm - 1pm.


DJing
Led by DJ Rasp UKDMC Champion for 2009 and 2010, an experienced professional DJ - you will develop DJing skills using top of the range equipment and have the opportunity to show case your talents at special events throughout the year. Nick Lowe is a professional music producer with over 10 years experience, Nick will develop your production, recording and lyric writing skills, stage performance, and support you to produce and record your own music.

The DJing workshops take place on Saturday afternoons from 1pm - 2pm.


Streetdance
Led by Watch This Space this workshop will develop your skills in street dancing working towards regular performances both at the Citadel and within the community.

Rock Band
The Citadel is offering limited slots for beginners or experienced musicians the opportunity to use our facilities on a Saturday afternoon. Whether you want to learn how to play an instrument or just spend some time in our Auditorium rehearsing then this is a MUST NOT MISS OPPORTUNITY with limited availability.

Some equipment will be provided (Guitar, drums, microphones,etc) however if you have your own instruments we advise you bring them. AND you can learn how to develop your sound and even how to promote your band. The sessions are led by Citadel sound staff who are also musicians. You will also get the opportunity to perform at The Citadel.

All Rock Band workshops take place on Saturday afternoons at the following times:

Rock Band Beginners - 2-3pm
Learn the basics of playing a new instrument such as guitar, drums, bass.

Rock Band Intermediate - 2-3pm
If you can already play the basics of an instrument, learn new songs and techniques and improve your playing level ready to play in a band!

Rock Band Advanced 1-2pm
For bands or people aspiring to join a band. Learn how to perform on stage with other musicians, get gigs and learn some new songs.
