Families experience the magic of Citadel Arts in local libraries.

During February Half Term, St Helens Libraries and Citadel Arts worked in partnership to present a magical Storytelling Festival.  Throughout 1 week and 4 sold out shows, over 160 children and families were able to experience the magic of Citadel Arts in 3 different libraries.  Families learnt how to fly at Eccleston Library with the delightful ‘The Whirlybird’, while families in Parr were treated to some ‘Twisted Tales for Terrible Children’.  The festival wrapped up at Newton le Willows Library with ‘Beastly Belle’ a gorgeous puppet show which gave a quirky 1930s twist to Beauty and the Beast.

“I love Citadel and I love libraries, put them both together and you have one very happy punter” –Audience Member.

Families who attended the festival also received the brand new Citadel Arts Family Loyalty Card.  A new initiative which allows regular bookers to attend their 11th Citadel Arts performance for absolutely free.  Families could soon start getting their cards filled up with stamps as Citadel Arts will be returning to the Town Centre this Easter for a brilliant Music & Comedy Festival for Families.

The team will be popping up in the Old Argos Store from Saturday 4th April to Saturday 18th April for two weeks of performances and Easter themed crafts.  We’ll be seeing the return of some of our favourite performers in a series of shows that are guaranteed to have you singing along or full-on belly laughing.   The festival kicks off on 4th April with Ensonglopedia – a day of free music and crafts with John Hinton – expect the unexpected and expect it to rhyme.  Gav Cross returns to tickle the funny bone of audiences on Sunday 5th April, but this time he’ll be joined by his own band of idiots for Funny Looking Kids: Comedy Club.  A gorgeous show for very young audiences follows on Wednesday 8th April when you and your baby are invited on a journey through the year in the life of a tree in Meet me a Tree.  We’ll be ‘Rolling Down the Road’ with David Gibb on Friday 17th April as we set off on a magical, musical bus ride.  And finally, prepare to have your funny bone tickled on Saturday 18th April with our Comedy Club 4 Kids.

Step into the magical world of Citadel Arts this Easter and experience what families are describing as: “Captivating”, “Enchanting”, “Hilarious”, “Entertaining”, “Imaginative”, “Crazy”, “Inspiring”.
